Stop Being Unique and Start Being Creative! Conformity Marketing is Dead.

I am sick and tired of writing articles with titles like “10 things you need to know about social media” or “3 ways to boost your business using Pinterest”. I’m SICK of it, I tell you! So enough is enough, for now at least. In this article I’ll be talking about creativity and marketing. I’ll be talking about conformity and non-conformity. I’ll also probably go off on a few strange tangents but that’s the beauty of creative marketing… isn’t it?

How many people have told you to “be unique” with your marketing? How many top-knot wielding slack jaws have told you to “just be yourself, man”? Am I bitter because I can’t grow a Lord of the Rings style beard? Maybe. Though that doesn’t change the fact that the hipster approach to marketing is dead.  Being unique is now the norm and it’s breaking the system. Everybody is being unique. Creativity is the new unique. To extend the hipster metaphor, creativity is the new kale. My suggestion is that you start eating as much kale (by being as you creative as you can with your marketing) before the  hipster marketeers ruin it for the rest of us.
